Afternoon Ladies!

Hope you’ve all been having fabulous weeks in the Sun, the weathers been kind to us recently..

NWS_20130610_ANA_009_27883900_I1

I’ve only got one qualm about good weather, and that is – I seem to eat more!! What is strange, is that my friends tell me they always loose weight in the Summer months, and put it back on in the Winter. I seem to be quite the opposite – Winter I think of as a time to spend indoors – this means I prepare better food that is high in protein and low in fat, I also spend a lot more of my time in the gym!

In the summer it’s a totally different story! I pig out when I’m out in town, and don’t feel like cooking very often (it’s too hot!) so in come the takeaways. Not only that, but I do not exercise as often, being stuck in a gym when it’s beautiful outside? It’s a no brainer.

Now, I’ve been seeing the weight pile on a little, it’s not totally tragic but we’re well on the way to loosing all my hard work over the chillier months in getting a healthy happy body!

So, I’m going to share with you my quick and easy way sustain your figure. I do allow myself a cheat MEAL once a week (not a cheat day). I Also alternate days to keep it fresh 😉

Here are two typical days in my Food Diary.

Day 1:

Breakfast:

ID:10939751

A handful of nuts and berries.

Excellent sources of good fats and it keeps you full for quite awhile. I usually opt for Almonds, Hazlenuts, Cashews and Raisins and dried strawberries.

Lunch:

grilled-chicken-headline

Day’s when I have a small breakfast, I go for a BIG lunch. Go hard or go home 😉

Usually I will opt for a meaty meal such as grilled chicken with sweet potatoes, a better alternative to normal potatoes and a side salad.

Dinner:

Pasta-Salad-with-balsamic-Vinegar-glaze

After quite a big dinner, I opt for a delicious salad in the evenings. You can really get creative here! Choose your favorite veg and/or fruit and away you go.

Day 2.

Breakfast:

9d3e6a7703c36360c04adb07c10b0444

I do love a good breakfast, and as the day before I only allowed my body nuts – day two I’ll go for something cooked. This is always an eggy breakfast, either poached egg, fried egg, boiled egg, soft-boiled egg! On rye bread with some good veggies such as steamed asparagus, broccoli – maybe some avocado!

Soup:

url

After such a hearty breakfast, I will go for a light lunch such as soup! Nothing quite beats a good soup! I usually make a big pot and freeze half ready to defrost another week. I usually opt for tomato soup, chicken soup, beetroot soup, brocolli and cheese soup, vegetable soup – the list is endless! Just pick your flavor and away you go.

Dinner:

url

By now I’m feeling quite hungry, so I’ll cook up a stir… stir-fry that is! Chuck in your favorite veg into a wok and hey presto!

During the course of both days I’ll snack on healthy things like edamame beans, banana, low fat rice cakes. Anything that isn’t sweets or crisps. Junk food tolerance- ZERO!

Of course, you should always allow yourself on guilt free meal at least once a week.. mine seems to be pizza 🙂 I sit and eat the whole huge thing to myself with extra cheese and extra sauce – yum!

What are your healthy eating routines? Feel free to share!

Today I learnt to make this delicious eggplant masterpiece! Man, cooking got so much easier when the internet was invented. You can look up recipes, bookmark them and even watch real time videos of people cooking! How great is that?  Believe me, you guys are going to love this veggie bake!

So here is what you will need:

INGREDIENTS

  1. Olive Oil
  2. 1 Onion
  3. Garlic
  4. Two 28-ounce cans whole, peeled Italian tomatoes, drained
  5. Salt and Pepper
  6. 8 eggplants
  7. Oregano
  8. Breadcrumbs
  9. 150g Mozarella
  10. 1 cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
  11. Breadcrumbs

Step 1. Heat three tablespoons of olive oil in a deep pan. Add in the garlic and onion and cook over a moderate heat. Crush the whole tomatoes into the pan. Simmer and cook over a low heat until the sauce is very thick. Put the tomatoes in a food processor and puree. Season with Salt and Pepper.

Step 2. Time to cook the eggplant slices! Heat a deep pan with a 1/4 olive oil and cook the eggplant over a medium heat until golden.

Step 3. Preheat the oven to Gas mark 6. In an oven dish add in the tomato puree. Then place the sliced and cooked eggplants and sprinkle over with oregano, the mozarella and the parmesan. Afterwards add freshly chopped basil and the breadcrumbs over the top. Bake in the oven for 35 minutes or until the top turns golden brown.

Enjoy!

Top Ten Foods that get you in the Mood!

Aphrodisiac, food, illicit encounters, lifestyle, sex

Making someone laugh, being physically attractive and intellectually stimulating are all things we associate with turning someone on but new research by IllicitEncounters.com, the UK and Ireland’s largest married dating site, shows that food can be more arousing than any of these. On a first date, good food is almost twice as important as the date’s sense of humour.

500 members on Illicit Encounters were asked ‘what’s the most important thing on a first date?’ The top five answers were as follows:

  • 1)My food is good (32%)
  • 2)My date has a good sense of humour (20%)
  • 3)I look attractive (18%)
  • 4)My date looks attractive (12%)
  • 5)The conversation is intellectually stimulating (10%)

Dietician Nadine Walters said food is so important because it stimulates more of the senses (taste, smell, sight and hearing) than conversation (hearing) or physical presentation (sight and maybe touch). This is a list of her top ten aphrodisiacs and why they turn you on:

  • 1) Chocolate – “Large quantities of chocolate can lead to a rapid rise in blood sugar and a consequent drop below normal levels resulting in fatigue,” Walters said “But cocoa contains phenyl ethylamine, a stimulant that conjures feel-good emotions that makes you feel like getting close to someone and think sex is a fabulous idea.”

  • 2) Red wine – “We all know that alcohol helps you relax and unwind, but red vino contains resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant which helps blood flow and improves circulation before sex which makes you more sensitive.”

  • 3) Asparagus and avocados – “These super-healthy vegetables contain Vitamin E which helps your body produce hormones like oestrogen, testosterone and progesterone, all which circulate in your bloodstream and stimulate sexual responders like the clitoris and the vagina.”athens-plants-284
  • 4) Chilies – “Not only do they boost energy, improve memory and even fight fat, they also contain capsaicin, a chemical which boosts circulation to get blood pumping and stimulates nerve endings, which means you’ll feel turned on. Result!”

  • 5) Oysters – “Perhaps the notion of gooey wobbly shellfish being an aphrodisiac is a bit hard to imagine but they’re brimming with zinc, a mineral which increases the production of testosterone, which increases your sex drive.”

  • 6) Bananas – “They give you potassium, a key nutrient to strength, which means when you orgasm, the contractions are very intense.”

  • 7) Pomegranates – “Full of antioxidants, they protect the lining of blood vessels, and improve circulation, which means increased genital sensitivity.”

  • 8) Walnuts – “They’re full of omega-3 fatty acids, which keep sex-hormone production high. Salmon, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, sardines and beef also contain omega-3 fatty acids.”

  • 9) Vanilla – “This sweet bean stimulates nerves and makes sexual sensation feel even better.”

  • 10) Watermelon – “This juicy fruit contains phytonutrient citrulline – this leads to an increase in nitric oxide in your body, which causes blood vessels to relax and speed up circulation. What does all this mean? You’ll get more aroused faster.”

Five Ways to Improve Your Diet

26 Thursday Feb 2015

diet, five ways, food, healthy, improve, lifestyle

Cut the Junk

Cutting out processed food will make a substantial difference to your diet and will also spur on weight loss. Many food manufacturers like to hide behind statements like Fat Free, Low Carb, Vitamin this that and the other; when actually they contain a lot more bad stuff. Buying fresh organic produce will help you get the most nutrients out of your food. Go natural, your body will thank you for it.

Fruit & Veg

Leading on from no junk – make sure you are getting at the very least your five-a-day. You will receive the best sustenance from the food that mother nature provides for you.

White Meat

Think: Put Red to Bed, White is Light! White meat is generally considered as ‘light’ meat – it is leaner and less fatty then red meat. You don’t need to completely cut red meat out of your diet – although it could be a good idea to limit the amount you eat.

Nuts

Nuts are a very good natural source of unsaturated fattyacids, Omega free, Fiber and Vitamin E! If you’re not a big fan of nuts you can always crush them and put them in a fruit salad or a bowl of cereal.

Water

It is recommended we consume a minimum of 2 Litres of water a day. Think of it as fuel to keep your body working. It is so important to keep yourself hydrated. Dehydration can lead to many health complications and leave you feeling weak and light-headed.

Excuse the enthusiasm, but come on! Today is a day for food glorious food and I’ve already been at the cooker armed with a frying pan and with mouths to feed during this half term! Everything ready and down to a tee, the pancake mix perfect and all sorts of yummy goodness laid out on the table: sugary syrups, chocolate, cut up pieces of fruit! Organised chaos? You can say that again! I have spent the last hour clearing up the kitchen, washing golden syrup out of my daughters hair and pajamas that were the unintended target of exploding flour. Alas, it was worth it- the kids are now content on the sofa watching a movie. Peace and quiet at last.

If you’re looking to make some pancakes today you should try out one of these recipes by Jamie Oliver, just click HERE

There are some brilliant pancake ideas on there, including some of my favorites, have a look at some of this mouthwatering goodness!
