In joy of the Christmas spirit, we thought we would have a little look at a historical event that happened on Christmas day to commemorate todays celebrations. This year we take a look at the Christmas Truce of 1914.
During the First World War many British and German forces lay down their arms and met in no mans land to exchange presents and wish each other a merry Christmas. This was after hearing both sides during Christmas Eve singing carols and shouting messages from the trenches. On Christmas day both British and German troops ceased fire and some soldiers were even found to be playing a friendly game of football. The day after the truce the war resumed.
Sainsbury’s new Christmas advert is inspired by the events of this day, the video is made in partnership with the Royal British Legion and you can view it by clicking on the video below:
Love B.W.C & Merry Christmas 🙂
